Bill Bozeman, Jim Henry to receive Security Legend Award

Bill Bozeman, Jim Henry to receive Security Legend Award Inaugural award winners to be honored at SecurityNext Conference next month in New Orleans

YARMOUTH, Maine—Security Systems News is excited to announce our inaugural Security Legend Award, which recognizes security industry professionals who have been leaders throughout their careers, and who continue to selflessly give back to help push the industry forward.

SSN is proud to honor Bill Bozeman, president and CEO, PSA Security, and Jim Henry, independent consultant, as our inaugural winners of this annual lifetime achievement award. SSN will present the awards to Henry and Bozeman at an Award Reception at its SecurityNext Conference in New Orleans next month, Feb. 9-11.

Bozeman has been leading PSA, one of the largest system integrator cooperatives, for more than 20 years, and has owned and run several successful security integration businesses throughout his career.

“It is always an honor to be recognized for contributions to an industry you have served for decades,” Bozeman said. “I appreciate the honor very much, but I am especially thankful for the people I have worked with in the past, the present and, most important, those who will become our next generation of security leaders and visionaries.”

Bozeman has nearly 40 years of experience in the security systems integration business and with a successful track record in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. He has served as president of Delta Audio-Visual Security, president of Dictograph Alarm Systems Inc. and vice president of strategic alliances for Pinkerton Systems Integration. Throughout his career, Bozeman has directed sophisticated electronic security projects for corporate America, the U.S. government and private institutions.

Bozeman attended Louisiana State University and graduated from the University of New Orleans. He also qualified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with the American Society for Industrial Security. He was recognized as one of the 25 Most Influential Security Executives and received the Paul Marcus award, presented to individuals that provide consistent leadership and direction to the PSA Security Network.

In 2013, Bozeman received the George Lippert Memorial Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the Security Industry Association (SIA). Bozeman currently serves on the board of directors for PSA, Security Specifiers, Northland Controls and also serves on various industry advisory boards.

Like Bozeman, Henry has spent his life in security, from the early days of running a business with his family to later working for behemoths like Kratos and Securitas.

“I am very appreciative of SSN for this recognition,” Henry said. “Lifetime achievement awards are extra special to me as they can only be attained with decades of contribution and support by family, friends and co-workers.  I have truly been blessed throughout my life and 50-plus year career with an abundance of all those 'elements for success.' It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of my team, which has helped to get me to where I am today.”

Henry joined the family business, Henry Bros. Electronics (HBE), as an applications engineer in June of 1978 after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. The three Henry Brothers — John (Jim's father), Hartford and Raymond Henry — originally founded HBE in 1950 as an electronic repair shop in Paramus, N.J. Under the ownership of the “Henry Brothers” from 1950 to 1986, HBE grew to have three divisions: Security Systems Integration, Land/Mobile Radio Systems, and Consumer Electronics Sales/Service.

From November 2001 through December 2010, Henry was chairman and CEO of HBE, which was sold to a public company in 1986, reacquired by a team led by Henry in 1989, and grown as a private company until Henry took it public in November of 2001. Henry became EVP for Kratos PSS, a division of Kratos Security and Defense Solutions (KTOS), in December of 2010 via the acquisition of HBE by Kratos PSS, serving in that role until June of 2018.

Henry most recently served as executive vice president of corporate development for Securitas Electronic Security Inc (SES), and is currently working as an independent consultant.
