Five Questions: Daniel Jackson

Five Questions: Daniel Jackson

Surveillance Systems Inc., a commercial integrator based in Rocklin, Calif., recently brought on Daniel Jackson to be director of technical sales, where he not only designs and sells systems but is involved in tech support and overall account management. Security Systems News asked Jackson five questions.

How did you first get started in the industry?

My father was a manufacturer in this industry, so I got introduced that way. I actually really liked it, the technology especially, and when I came to the U.S. I worked for a few integration companies and started from the bottom pulling cable and worked my way into management and system design.

What are some of your hobbies?

I am very active and love Crossfit, which is a terrific discipline, so that is my daily routine.

Where are you originally from and how does that compare with where you live now?

I am from Perth, a small city in Western Australia that is very different than where I live now in Las Vegas, which was a big culture shock for me. It is different, but I love it and it is an exciting place to live and work.

What trends are you seeing right now in the industry?

What I am finding with analytics—the people counting, point of sale, all of these things—is that providing business intelligence equates to better return on investment and value for the customer.

What do like most about the industry today?

I love the people I work with. I am very passionate about what I do and my company shares that same passion. It is a family-type of business, which creates a terrific environment to work in, from the owner, Todd Flowers, on down, so I get absolute support across the board from all my colleagues.
