GERMANTOWN, Md.--Following the acquisition of NKF Electronics, Optelecom changed its name to Optelecom-NKF to better reflect the deal on the merged company's product line and geographic reach.
Optelecom announced and completed the $26 million acquisition in the first quarter of this year, purchasing the company in a combination cash and stock deal from NKF's former parent company Draka Holding.
Prior to the deal, both NKF and Optelecom were similarly aligned but based on separate continents. The merged company is better equipped to tackle the European and North American markets.
Optelecom-NKF continues to be traded under the stock ticker OPTC.
