Hospital deploys DVTEL's IP video system

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, based here, has deployed DVTEL's IP video surveillance system throughout its facility, according to a company statement.
The system leverages high-definition Quasar cameras and Latitude VMS to secure high-risk areas. The hospital employs more than 100 security officers, and has a 415-camera video surveillance system.
“We wanted to transition to IP,” Dan Arnett, assistant director of security and transportation, said in the statement. “We also wanted any technology we implemented to be based on open standards to allow us to choose what would work best in our environment. Finally, we wanted the system to be scalable so it can be adapted as our environment changes.”
The Quasar camera line is a suite of HD, broadcast-quality cameras supported by DVTEL's Latitude NVMS. The suite uses higher compression profiles, resulting in lower bandwidth and less storage without compromising frame rates.
