Identix lands defense contract

MINNETONKA, Minn. - Fingerprint biometric company Identix said it had landed a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense for a 5.4 million user license for its BioEngine fingerprint recognition technology. The DOD will use the license to upgrade existing fingerprint records of all its military and civilian personnel using the company’s latest technology, Identix officials said. Under the license agreement, the upgraded software to the BioEngine will be used in conjunction with DFR single fingerprint readers.
