users conference IRVINE, Calif.-Monitoring Automation Systems will host "Quest 2002," the annual conference for MAS users at the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering on the campus of the University of California, Irvine, Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, 2002. The conference, which has been held for the past 15 years, brings together senior executives and managers for IT, marketing, operations and other responsibilities from companies such as monitoring centers, call centers, utilities, banks and public agencies. Security Broadband hires networking firm AUSTIN, Texas-Security Broadband, a company that provides home security services via cable broadband, has hired TManage Inc. to support the company's residential security offering by providing managed LAN services, managesd WAN services, security services and server services for the multi-site Security Broadband data network. Security Broadband officials said they hired the firm because they needed someone to help the company manage the complex network used to launch their Internet-based home security service. Extension granted on 10-digit dialing BROWARD COUNTY, Fla.-An extension was granted to waive the deadline for 10-digit dialing for parts of Broward County at the request of some alarm companies who needed more time to reprogram home security systems, said a spokesperson from BellSouth. The extension was granted for at least seven exchanges until July 1, which affected about 7,000 BellSouth customers.
