Mission 500 softball game a win-win Charity event raises $48,000 for essential items for children and burn center in NYC Area

MIAMI—Mission 500, a non-profit charity supported primarily by the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, raised $48,000 at its third annual Security Softball Game on Aug. 26th at Overpeck County Park in Leonia, N.J.

The event enabled Mission 500 to meet their goal of filling 300 Care Packs filled with essential hygiene items for donation to children attending Title One schools in the South Bronx—one of the poorest congressional districts in the country.

“The event brings the security industry together in supporting children and families in need,” Jeff Eichenlaub, director of strategic partnerships for Mission 500, said in the announcement. “The efforts of all the participants and sponsors this year are greatly appreciated by Mission 500.”

This year, $3,500 of the proceeds raised will be donated to the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation Children's Camp, a not-for-profit dedicated to the advancement of burn care, research, prevention, education and the proper treatment of burns. The organization also sends burn victims under the age of 18 to have fun at summer camp.

Sponsors were given the opportunity to fundraise for the event. Accolades for raising the most funds as a team went to ScanSource Security.

Event sponsors included (in alphabetical order): ADI, Altronix, Anixter, Axis Communications, Beacon Protection, Brooklyn Voltage Supply, Commercial Architecture Magazine, Dahua USA, DMP, Firecom, First Guard, ESA New Jersey Chapter, Hanwha Techwin America, ISC Events, ISS, Ken Gould Consulting, Kurtz & Revness, LRG Marketing, M2M Services, Napco StarLink, NYFAA, PSA Security Network, Rapid Response, ScanSource, SD&I, Security Sales & Integration, Security Systems News, Security Today, Statewide Central Station, and XtraSales.
