New offerings at PSA-TEC 2012

WESTMINSTER, Colo.—PSA-TEC 2012, which will take place here May 14-18, will include the extensive training, certification, educational and networking opportunities that attendees have come to expect in the more than 30 years PSA Security has presented this event.

In addition, PSA-TEC 2012 will feature several new offerings such as the PSA Leadership Institute, new best-practices roundtables and more pre-conference activities for technicians.

The event focuses on four areas: business optimization, physical security, IT, and managed services for physical security. It also features an extensive exhibit hall with more than 100 exhibitors.

The training is designed primarily for integrators, but the event is valuable for manufacturers, end users and consultants. Attendees do not have to be members of PSA Security to attend the event, said Sharon Shaw, PSA Security vice president, integrator support and director of education.

Courses include Cisco certification, Electronic Security Networking Technician, Security Project Management and others. In addition, there is BICSI and ASIS programming and continuing education credits associated with both. The ASIS programming will include presentations by end users.

PSA-TEC 2012 will feature more and varied best-practices roundtables. “Owners meet with other owners, salespeople meet with other salespeople, and designers and project managers meet,” Shaw said. This setup will allow all levels of the organization to “meet and truly network with their peers.”

New this year is a pre-conference program for techs, many of whom come in on Sunday and stay through Saturday. “This year we’ll have a welcome gathering [for techs] and offer a class on Sunday afternoon,” Shaw said.
