WASHINGTON-The Security Industry Association has developed a new membership category that will serve the needs of systems integrators, association officials said.

The new membership category will allow systems integrators to join SIA as a systems integrator as opposed to joining the trade association in the service provider or associate member category.

Fire alarms via Internet final piece to the puzzle

Even with just a small percentage of alarm signals being sent via the Internet, Lou Fiore, past president of the Central Station Alarm Association, is hailing the approval of a Tentative Interim Amendment by the Standards Council of the National Fire Protection Association, which clears the way for Underwriters Laboratories to list equipment that is used to transmit fire signals.

"This is one of the few times in history that an alarm regulatory (group) has been proactive.
