Firm getting ‘more traditional’ about security


AUSTIN, Texas - Technology and monitoring service provider Security Broadband is in talks with several security industry players about distributing its products and services through the security channel, rather than relying heavily on its cable partners.

Between bankruptcy and consolidation in the cable industry, some of Security Broadband’s partners in the cable industry have not fared well in recent months.

Moody’s, S&P rate Monitronics debt

DALLAS - Two well-known ratings firms released reports on Monitronics International’s debt last month. The results, however, were mixed, as Moody’s gave a “stable” rating, while S&P gave a “negative” rating to the company based on its $525 million in outstanding credit facilities.

CENTRE WELLINGTON, Ontario - By the beginning of November, businesses in this area of Wellington County will have to start paying for alarm monitoring services from a monitoring company. The fire department, which for years provided free monitoring, is getting out of that business, and according to one industry insider, it’s about time.

Securitas takes timeshare nationwide

Shared dispatch service also helps avoid false alarm fines

CHICAGO - Securitas Security Services has beefed up the ranks of its timeshare dispatch officers to deliver the service nationwide as a means of lightening the financial load on its customers.

The officers, most of whom have experience with police departments or in the military, are available in roughly all areas where Securitas has an office, said Craig Smith, Securitas president, Rocky Mountain region.

TAMPA, Fla. - Litestream Technologies, a utility provider of bundled services that include phone, cable and alarm monitoring services to residential master-planned communities in Florida, received $10 million in capital from American Capital Corp.

Falcon Security growing with wireless


BROCKVILLE, Ontario - Falcon Security has signed a contract with the Canadian military for a wireless technology designed specifically for alarm systems that the company said has taken it to “a whole new level.”

The Canadian military will be using Falcon Secure Net, but Chris Izatt, Falcon’s sales and operations manager, declined to be more specific.
