SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—Alarm Protection Services has converted 1,100 of the 1,800 2G systems in its customer base. That's helped its business and it only lost four customers who did not want to upgrade, according to Spencer Smith, APS president. IoT, drones to drive wireless video surveillance market

LONDON—The wireless video surveillance market will grow across the globe, according to market research firm Technavio, and IoT and drones will play a big role in that growth.
“The global wireless video surveillance market is close to 21 percent CAGR [from] 2014 to 2019,” Technavio senior industry analyst, Amrita Choudhury told Security Systems News. Technavio estimated the global market's 2014 value at $399 million, rising to about $1.05 billion in 2019.

YARMOUTH, Maine—Before attending a conference, security executives pay more attention to their budget, timing and their current projects than what the show offers, according to responses in Security Systems News' latest poll. But, when it comes to the show, respondents were almost evenly split between location, attendees/keynotes/speakers and “something different.”

Security upgrade in works for NYC Housing Authority

ALBANY, N.Y.—New York state will spend $42 million on security cameras and other security equipment targeted at cutting crime at New York City Housing Authority developments, according to report from The Associated Press.
The security upgrades will include interior and exterior lighting, intercoms, external doors and gunfire detection sensors, the report said.

SALT LAKE CITY—The downtown venue that is home here to the Utah Jazz NBA team and is the region's premier concert and entertainment spot will now be called the Vivint Smart Home Arena.

NORTH CANTON, Ohio—Securitas has agreed to buy Diebold's North America-based electronic security division for $350 million. The divestiture by Diebold is aimed to better position it to pursue growth in the self-service industry, it said.
