FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—Axis Communications and LenSec expect to install 500 cameras within all of the Spotsylvania County Schools, located here, by this August.
The school district initiated the network video security and surveillance project as a means to prevent injury and theft inside and outside its 30 schools. At present, the two companies have installed more than 300 network cameras at 15 buildings.
Axis Communications, a Lund, Sweden-based manufacturer of video products and print servers, contributed network cameras and video servers that operate on IP-based networks and enable transmission of real-time images over the Internet.
LenSec, a Houston-based video management software developer, provided its K12M platform, a software application for school environments that manages live and archived images.
The school district required the companies to install the cameras in areas for monitoring of students, employees and visitors. The two companies have already placed hardware in hallways, cafeterias and parking lots.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
