Five Questions: Eric Thompson

Eric Thompson began working for Securitas Electronic Security in April as a talent acquisition specialist, where he focuses on staffing needs throughout every function of the organization. With Securitas growing, Thompson said he has the opportunity to “work with some exceptionally talented people,” onboarding sales professionals and service technicians. Security Systems News asked him five questions.

Are you married, do you have kids?

My wife Linda and I have been married four years this October, and we have a two-year-old son named Jack and another one on the way; and we have a cat named Molly.

Is there something about you that your coworkers might not know?

I am a big Green Bay Packers fan living in the Chicago area, so I didn't know if that would be a career-limiting move. My parents are both from Wisconsin, and my dad is a big Packers fan.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I used to be an avid outdoorsman; I love camping. But now with the young ones it is about spending time with family and raising my son. I am also a big Star Trek geek, so I have a vast collection of Star Trek tech, figures, movies and all kinds of stuff.

What do you like most about the industry?

What I really enjoy is that the work that we do really matters. Working with cutting-edge technology, providing services to help protect people, businesses and property in critical parts of the world, really has a big impact on lives and safety. What I love the most is the opportunity to help people not only find a job but build a career in such an important industry.

Have you read any good books lately?

I have been reading a lot of family-focused books, and I am about midway through What To Expect the Second Year.
