Are you married? Do you have kids?
I have been married for 25 years. I have three daughters of my own, and a stepdaughter and a stepson. With five kids, the holidays are always a busy time for us. It's great to be an empty nester, but at the same time you like to stay in touch with the kids and still be involved in their lives and in the lives of our grandchildren; I have two.
Do you have any pets?
A little-known fact about us is that, at one time, my wife and one of my daughters actually raised small Italian greyhounds and showed them in dog shows up and down the East Coast. … We actually won some blue ribbons and my daughter showed one of our dogs in the Westminster dog show. … Currently, we've traded the greyhounds for Chihuahuas.
What do you like about where you live?
I like the idea of working in the city and being an urbanite by day and a suburbanite by night. It's great to take advantage of everything that New York has to offer, but it's also great to take that train home every evening [to Connecticut].
What do you like to do in your free time?
The big thing I do in my free time right now is writing. I've always wanted to write a novel and two years ago I got enough gumption to sit down at a typewriter and actually start to work on a book. I just recently published my third. … The premise is about a hypochondriac hitman and I'm published on Kindle.
What was the best movie you saw in 2016?
I saw The Arrival recently, and I thought it was very thought provoking. Ordinarily, I'm not a tremendous science fiction fan, however, this movie—I thought—was very well done.
