Four women receive Karen Marquez Honors

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.—Four ASIS members have been recognized with Karen Marquez Honors, presented by ASIS International's Women in Security council.

The third annual awards honor women whose contributions have furthered the growth of women in the security industry, according to a prepared statement from Hikvision, sponsor of the awards.

This year's winners were Sandie Davies, executive director of IFPO International; Victoria Ekhomu, managing director of Trans-World Security Systems; Julieta Munoz Cornejo, regional vice president for ASIS Mexico; and Susan Walker, regional security manager at the Department of Homeland Security.

Karen Marquez was co-owner and executive vice president of MVM Inc., a physical security services firm. With a 23-year career in security, she also was a member of Women Business Owners and the National Association of Female Executives. She died in 2006. The Marquez Foundation assists Hispanic students with college education, and the ASIS WIS council works to help women interested in entering the security industry as well as those already in it.
