MONTREAL—A new partnership between VMS provider Genetec and ASSA ABLOY, manufacturer of access control systems and locks, will allow customers to use the two companies' products together for a more complete view of their security systems, the companies said in a press release this week.
As a result of the partnership, customers will be able to use Genetec's Synergis Master Controller system, an IP door controller, with ASSA ABLOY's electronic locks, allowing security providers to view door activities on live or recorded video.
In a prepared statement, Jimmy Palatsoukas, senior product marketing manager at Genetec, said, “The integration will allow our customers to easily extend their existing access control infrastructure into hard-to-reach or inaccessible locations through Wi-Fi locks that do not require any wiring, as well as leverage their existing network cabling with PoE locks to simplify installation and reduce costs."
Martin Huddart, ASSA ABLOY Americas vice president of electronic technologies said in a statement, “The integration of ASSA ABLOY IP-enabled locks with the Genetec Synergis platform allows facilities to leverage their IT infrastructure to bring electronic access control deeper into the building.”
