Guidepost Solutions announces new leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in compliance, investigations and security consulting, announced the promotions of John Torres to president, Security & Technology Consulting (STC) and Matthew V. Wharton, Sr. to president, Strategic Accounts. Torres also heads the firm's Federal Practice.

Since taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer of STC in 2016, Torres's strategic vision and organizational awareness have elevated the work performed on behalf of clients. In this new role, Torres will oversee the division's direction to be the best-in-class provider for security services, in addition to his responsibilities over daily operations of the group. With expertise in compliance, monitoring, and security consulting, he works on matters such as risk mitigation, anti-money laundering, security assessments, due diligence, investigations, crisis management planning, event security management, and federal consulting. His extensive investigative and security experience provides him with a unique perspective on internal security investigations, cross-border cases and government compliance issues.
Torres joined Guidepost Solutions in 2013, where he has served as president of the Federal Practice, which he'll continue to lead in addition to his new responsibilities. Previously, he was the Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Washington, D.C. and Virginia. His background includes 30 years of experience providing investigative and security management for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Justice, including serving as the Acting Director and the Deputy Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Wharton is one of the country's leading experts in security and technology consulting and has been the driving force behind STC's business development efforts to national and global accounts. The founder of Guidepost Solutions' Technology Design Consulting Practice, he has been with the company since 2002 and is a career security professional with more than 35 years of experience leading security consulting and integration firms. With a focus on Strategic Accounts, Wharton will be now responsible for increasing STC's global revenues, establishing relationships with new and existing clients, and promoting project development, expansion, retention and loyalty.
