Imperial Surveillance protects Midwest Foods with Hikvision

DES PLAINES, Ill.— Imperial Surveillance, a full-service security company based here, used video surveillance provider Hikvision USA at Midwest Foods, one of the region's largest food distributors.

The project allowed the end user to upgrade the existing technology to create a hybrid system and a gradual upgrade to digital without significant capital investment, according to a statement from Hikvision.

The new technology offered by Hikvision also allowed for increased operational efficiencies, enhanced security, and additional cost savings.

When Midwest Foods decided to add IP cameras in key areas, it chose Hikvision's 3MP EXIR Turret Network Camera, with long-range infrared and three-axis lens adjustment, and Hikvision's 960H Hybrid DVR and the eight-channel 7608 Embedded NVR with built-in PoE switch for a seamless connection between analog and digital on the production line.

In a prepared statement, Domenic DiPietra, security consultant at Imperial Surveillance, said, "The communications capabilities between the cameras and the NVR are impressive, especially when working with a hybrid system. What's more, Hikvision offers 'plug-and-play' functionality like nobody else, which makes for a smooth and straightforward installation process."

The new system has prevented theft and given Midwest Foods a more effective way of monitoring food safety concerns, the statement said. Midwest's strict guidelines guarantee that their products are void of biological and physical hazards. Video surveillance prevents everything from allergen contamination to potential terrorist activity.
