SentinelOne ends partnership with Wiz after bid consideration

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Cybersecurity company SentinelOne ended its partnership with Israeli startup Wiz only a week after the company was considering a bid.

On Aug. 25, cybersecurity startup Wiz said that it was considering a bid for troubled cybersecurity company SentinelOne. Insiders familiar with the situation told reporters at Reuters that the company was exploring options that could include a sale. A little less than a week later, however, SentinelOne has put the brakes on that plan.

In a statement to several media outlets SentinelOne said that it was breaking off the partnership with Wiz stating that it has “…not been material,” to its business. SentinelOne was also founded in Israel in 2013 and began its exclusive partnership with 2020’s Wiz in April of 2023.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Wiz,” Tomer Weingarten, CEO of SentinelOne,  said at the time. “Combining the best CWPP in the market today with the best CNAPP available truly brings to life the best-of-breed cloud security solution that all companies require to enable them to better secure their organization’s digital transformation journey.”

“We’re excited to partner with SentinelOne to empower businesses to build and innovate faster and more securely in the cloud. By combining the two leading security platforms, customers gain visibility and actionable context to solve their most complex security challenges from prevention to response with unprecedented simplicity, speed and accuracy,” Wiz CEO, Assaf Rappaport said then.

Rappaport is a notable figure in the cybersecurity industry, having sold his startup, Adallom, for $320 million to Microsoft nearly a decade ago. He generated significant buzz with the launch of Wiz, and the company is currently valued at roughly $10 billion.
