NORTHFORD, Conn.—Silent Knight by Honeywell is announcing that its nationwide series of fire alarm training courses have been expanded to cover mass notification and carbon monoxide capabilities, according to company statement.
The mass notification training will cover Silent Knight's new IntelliKnight 5820XL-EVS mass notification system. Both new courses offer participants certificates of completion and continuing education units (CEUs). Both the one-day fire drill course and the two-day tech ed course cover IntelliKnight's mass notification and CO detection capabilities.
Training supervisor Shawn Burke of Silent Knight said demand for more training has increased in light of recent events, along with stricter codes on the state level, according to the statement.
“We've always had the capability to evacuate people out of buildings,” Burke said in the statement. “Now with mass notification, we can override that signal to provide real-time instructions to help occupants better protect themselves from things like tornadoes and intruder attacks.”
Burke added, “Addressable CO detection is another hot topic many ask about because more and more states are requiring it.”
