Tyco, HID Global systems win FICAM approval

WESTFORD, Mass.—The U.S. General Services commissions has approved an end-to-end physical access control system consisting of products from Tyco's Software House and HID Global as a fully compliant FICAM solution, the two companies announced Oct. 30.

Software House's C-Cure 900 and HID Global's pivCLASS readers and validation software are the first products of their kind to meet testing requirements and comply with the FICAM requirements and GSA's realigned Approved Products List, according to the news release. That means the systems are not prone to denials of service, credential spoofing or other unauthorized access.

“Many U.S. Government agencies and commercial companies rely on the GSA Approved Product List to identify products that are FIPS-201-1 compliant,” said Stafford Mahfouz, manager of government programs for Tyco Security Products, in a prepared statement. “This stamp of approval by the GSA assures that when government agencies purchase this solution, it will meet all of the FIPS-201-1 processing standards.”

C-Cure 9000 is a scalable security and event management system that allows users to create custom clearances. HID Global offers a variety of readers.

“Only rigorous testing provides a reasonable basis for confidence in the access control of the federal governments' buildings and other assets,” said Chi Hickey, FICAM testing program manager, in a prepared statement. “I am very pleased to announce Software House, in concert with HID, as the first new GSA APL certified end-to-end system.”

Software House is part of the security products division of Tyco.
