Universal announces acquisition, new executive position

SANTA ANA, Calif.—Universal Protection Service, one of the nation's largest security guard providers which also does some security integration is growing. The company has acquired the security guarding of The Budd Group and announced the creation of a security systems and technology services president position.
Universal has taken over The Budd Group's security division, which has served the Southeast for more than three decades. “We are proud to acquire a company with the quality and reputation that Budd Security has earned, and are excited to work with all of our new clients and employees,” said Steve Jones, Universal Services of America CEO in an Aug. 30 news release. “The acquisition of the guard service business from The Budd Group fills an important strategic objective for Universal Protection Service to continue to grow our business in key markets throughout the Southeast.”
Also on Aug. 30, Universal announced it has hired Ty Richmond as the new president of security systems, technology services and national accounts.
“I am excited to join Universal Protection Service and to head up several of their major corporate initiatives,” Richmond said. “I have admired Universal as a competitor and worked with them as a client. Their focus on delivering exceptional customer service and security solutions is truly unmatched, and I look forward to being part of the Universal family and helping take the company to the next level.”
Universal Protection Services is a division of Universal Services of America is one of the largest security and janitorial services providers in the country.
