SANTA ANA, Calif.—Guard and security installation company Universal Protection Service announced this week it has acquired A&R Security Services Inc., one of the largest privately owned and operated guard providers in the Midwest.
The acquisition, announced Sept. 4 and which includes A&R's United Security LLC, will expand Universal's guard force throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin. It will enable the company “to execute its strategy of being a true national security service provider,” said Steve Jones, UPS COO, in a prepared statement.
The purchase is Universal's second in the past five months. In May, it acquired Heritage Security Services of San Diego, along with that company's patented guard-tracking technology. With the addition of A&R Security, Universal becomes the fifth-largest security company in the United States and the third-largest U.S.-owned security organization, the company said.
