Viscount Systems receives government support to enhance access control platform

BURNABY, British Columbia—Viscount Systems, a supplier of security systems and software, has received conditional funding of up to $150,000 from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program, according to a company statement.
IRAP support will be used to advance the development of Viscount's Freedom access control platform and to expand system capabilities to a number of key areas, including mobile devices, enhancing the Freedom Microsoft Active Directory platform preparing for U.S. Government full FICAM compliance, and enhanced encryption, the statement said.
The contribution will improve the company's ability to develop new applications. Dennis Raefield spoke to SSN about the company's offerings when he joined the company in December.
“Viscount aims to continue to expand its presence in the U.S. Federal Government space including agency clients within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,” Stephen Pineau, president and CEO, Viscount, said in the statement.
“Such high-profile clients mean we need to accelerate the development of our core technology with a view to readying it for their specific commercial applications.”
