MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Following the recent opening of a new facility here, Vivint Solar now has four locations in Massachusetts, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
In 2013, Vivint Solar was the state's top residential solar provider, with more than four megawatts worth of solar systems installed, the paper reported May 19. Vivint Solar, an affiliate of Provo, Utah-based home automation/home security company Vivint, sells solar panels to homeowners for affordable electricity generation, and installs, maintains, services and monitors the panels.
A Vivint Solar district manager told the paper that the company opened the new office because it has been successful elsewhere in the state and said the company's pricing is competitive with the local electric rates.
Vivint Solar offers power at $.105 cents per kilowatt, while most other current utilities offer $.175 cents per kilowatt, the paper reported.
The expansion of Vivint Solar adds 240 jobs, the paper said.
