PROVO, Utah—Vivint Solar, an affiliate of home automation/home security provider Vivint, announced April 16 that Dwain Kinghorn has been named chief strategy and innovations officer and will align the company product portfolio with new business development channels.
A longtime network security engineering executive, Kinghorn joined Vivint Solar, which bills itself as the nation's second largest solar provider, from SageCreek Partners, where he counseled technology clients. Kinghorn started his career at Microsoft and then built networking software startup Computing Edge. He formerly was CTO at Altiris, where he successfully orchestrated a dominant systems management platform from a global team of engineers for over seven years.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dwain to our strategic leadership team as we move forward with our growth plans in the solar industry," said Greg Butterfield, CEO of Vivint Solar, in a prepared statement.
Vivint Solar currently operates in California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C.
The company also announced in April that is growing its Maryland footprint by expanding into the north Baltimore and Frederick areas. Vivint Solar has been in Maryland since early last year. The company plans to hire 85 employees in the combined new locations to continue providing its affordable solar solutions to homeowners.
