Weinstock Award winner named

IRVING, Texas—Charles “Dom” D'Ascoli has received the 2013 Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award, the Electronic Security Association announced Jan. 21. D'Ascoli will formally receive the award at the Electronic Security Expo in Nashville, Tenn., in June.
Presented annually since 1970, the Weinstock award outstanding achievement and ongoing efforts on behalf of the association. The winner is nominated and selected by former award winners, according to a news release.
D'Ascoli, who founded Smoky Mountain Systems in 1982, was chosen for community service and leadership on local, state and national boards, according to the release. He joined the Georgia Electronic Life Safety and Security Association in 1984, lobbying successfully for Georgia licensing requirements. D'Ascoli is also member of the North Carolina Electronic Security Association and has served as vice president and president of ESA.
D'Ascoli has worked with state, community and church organizations and is active with wounded warrior foundations, according to the release.
