COLUMBIA, S.C.—Although power was down in the northeast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, solar-powered Electric Guard Dog security systems weathered the storm, according to a company statement.
Customer service at EGD reported that their two largest customers in the Northeast, who have a combined 15 sites in the affected areas, said their perimeter systems worked without issue at all sites.

Honeywell helps first responders respond to Sandy

At Honeywell's First Alert Professional conference in Hollywood, Fla. last week, everyone there expressed concern about the victims of Hurricane Sandy, which battered the East Coast last week. But Honeywell isn't just expressing sympathy—this week it said it's also taking action by donating more than a half a million dollars in first responder products for relief efforts and also providing financial and other assistance to its employees impacted by the storm.

ISC East postponed, new dates not yet determined

NEW YORK—ISC East organizers announced that the trade show scheduled for Oct. 29-31 here at the Javits Center is postponed, due to Hurricane Sandy.
The Security Industry Association's Gala, originally scheduled for Oct. 30, has also been postponed. PSA Security Network CEO Bill Bozeman, the 2012 recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award, was to be honored at the event.
