B Safe makes fourth acquisition of the year

B Safe makes fourth acquisition of the year Company ‘approaching’ $500,000 in RMR

WILMINGTON, Del.—B Safe, a regional provider of security and fire alarms in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, made its fourth acquisition of the year in July with the purchase of Eyes On You Security of Bear, Del. This deal follows the acquisition of Delaware Electric Signal in March, and two companies in New Jersey in Feb., adding approximately 4,500 total new accounts.

“We are at about 15,000 accounts now, and the new accounts are going to add approximately $2.5 million in annual revenue,” Mary Cakir, B Safe's customer service manager, told Security Systems News. “And we are approaching about $500,000 in RMR.”

With B Safe's most recent acquisitions in Delaware, which added approximately 2,500 accounts, “it gives us economy of scale and allows us to provide outstanding customer service to our entire customer base,” said Cakir.

Cakir noted that one of the keys for the Delaware Electric Signal deal was obtaining its office in Delaware, as well as its 16 employees, including eight technicians, three managers, two sales and three administrative people, helping to smooth the transition for customers.

“One of the things that makes us successful as far as acquisitions is that we make the transition very easy for the customer, so when we have an acquisition we don't lose customers during the process,” she explained.

Cakir said that B Safe has three more acquisitions planned before year's end, which will help sustain the company's continued growth.

“We have been growing at a rate of about 30 percent for the last three years running, and 2016 is growing at a similar pace and is going wonderfully,” she said.

Cakir said that home automation is also driving growth.

“We are really focused on home automaton right now, and constantly looking at new product lines that streamline the whole security system and combine it with home automation,” she explained.

As an authorized Honeywell dealer, Cakir said B Safe has several home automation packages for interested customers, “which have been successful so far.”

With increased demand for connected home devices, B Safe's security consultants are “constantly being trained on anything new out there and they meet once a week to go over strategies and ideas, and we bring in different vendors, such as for cameras, for example,” she explained. “Honeywell has been wonderful for their support and will send people out to train our people on any of their new products, so we try to keep everybody up to date on the latest technology.”

To make adoption easier for customers, B Safe came up with “Be Connected,” which gives customers full control of their security system and home automation devices using their phone or computer. “Be Connected is a wonderful service that a lot of people are taking advantage of,” she said.
