Acre sticks with hybrid approach to access control

PLANO, Texas—After speculation about the future of Acre Security’s on-premise versus cloud-native access control, its chief technology officer is “setting the record straight”: Its on-premise platform is not going anywhere.

“Over the last few months, we’ve heard the rumors that we are sunsetting our core on-premise brands in favor of our cloud-native acre Access Control (aAC) solution,” said Darren Learmonth. “Let’s be clear - this is not true.”

Acre SecurityOver the past 12 to 18 months, Acre has continued to invest heavily in its on-premise brands, including DNA Fusion, Access It!, PremiSys, ACT365, ACTpro and Omnis. Each of these brands has shown a steady stream of updates such as new integrations, enhanced security features, and user experience improvements, the CTO noted.

“These advancements are all designed to reinforce our commitment to these platforms, and more importantly, to our customers,” he said.

Beyond feature updates, Acre has taken significant steps to ensure long-term support and continued innovation across its entire portfolio, increasing its engineering headcount by almost 20% to accelerate feature parity on aAC while maintaining and developing its core on-premise brands.

In addition, the company recently appointed a new chief product officer, Sarah Rodrigues, to “drive executional rigor and ensure we deliver on the ambitious roadmap we have for our entire access control ecosystem,” Learmonth said.

“We understand that trust is earned through action, and these investments demonstrate our commitment to our partners, customers, and end users,” he said.

Learmonth noted the future of access control is not about disruption, it’s about choice. Whether customers stay on-prem, move to the cloud or choose a hybrid model, Acre will work to ensure that customers have a seamless, zero-disruption path forward when ready.

“Our core on-prem brands like DNA Fusion, Access IT!, PremiSys, ACTpro and Omnis are evolving with new integrations, advanced commitment to innovation,” he said. “We are moving aggressively to ensure aAC doesn’t just match but exceed the capabilities of our core brands.”

With Acre building a smarter, more connected access control ecosystem, Learmonth noted that these efforts are designed to make its customers better, smarter and more adaptable to market changes.

“For integrators and resellers, this means we are committed to empowering you with the tools, support, and innovation you need to deliver best-in-class security solutions,” he said. “For end users, our vision is to provide security without compromise and innovation without limits. Whether on-prem or cloud-based, we’re ensuring your security infrastructure is futureproofed, intuitive, and built to evolve alongside your needs.”
