DALLAS – U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh has recognized ADT Commercial as one of the 835 recipients of the 2002 Hire Vets Gold Medallion Award from the Department of Labor.
This award recognizes ADT for its dedication to the employment of military veterans as part of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017. ADT Commercial was presented with the award in a virtual ceremony held on Nov. 9.
Those receiving the HIRE Vets Medallion Award have met rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, which includes veteran hiring and retention percentages; availability of veteran-specific resources; leadership programming for veterans; dedicated human resource efforts; pay compensation and tuition assistance programs for veterans. Over 1400 employers have earned the distinction since its implementation in 2018. ADT Commercial is a Gold Medallion Award recipient in the Large Employer category (500+ employees) with more than 7 percent of its new hires since 2021 certified veterans. The vets must be retained as employees for over a year, and the company has retained 90 percent of its veteran hires in 2021.
ADT Commercial called the achievement an incredible milestone for the company. “To be awarded Gold Medallion status is such an amazing accomplishment and a testament to the years of work our teams and leaders have put in to give our nation’s heroes a path forward and long-term career in their civilian lives,” said Zack Morris, Director, Commercial Career Programs.
ADT and ADT Commercial have fostered a number of groups and initiatives designed to attract former service members including the Veterans Business Employee Resource Group (BERG), which supports employees from all branches of the service and their supporters to create a culture of comradery and development. It also has its 12-month Leadership Development Program which allows employees to expand their leadership skillsets.
“We’ve long recognized that military servicemembers possess valuable technical skillsets, a strong sense of duty and a desire to serve others, making them ideal candidates to enjoy long security industry careers,” Morris continued. “Not only will this recognition help ADT Commercial to deliver on our promise of service excellence in identifying more well-rounded, capable candidates, but also help us to transform the security workforce overall. This is just the first of many steps we’re taking towards creating a diverse, balanced and technically expert industry workforce, whose talents are as holistic as our own service approach. This is truly such an honor.”
