BOCA RATON, Fla.—Rumors that ADT is working with Google's Nest are not rumors after all. ADT CEO Naren Gursahaney announced today at an investor conference that ADT is partnering with Google's Nest and with LG Electronics.
It will work with LG Electronics on a new “All-In-One” smart security product and with Google's Nest to integrate the Nest Learning Thermostat into ADT's Pulse product.
Security Systems News wrote about ADT partnering with Nest in January.
ADT plans to introduce the LG Smart Security product later this year. It will combine secure ADT professional monitoring and video hosting with a security camera gateway solution.
Analysts who spoke to Security Systems News said ADT's partnership with LG will bring ADT similar capabilities that Monitronics partnership with LiveWatch provides.
“LG's compact plug-and-play smart security device offers users the flexibility to monitor home conditions remotely and add the ADT service for additional protection. Building on LG advancements in the IoT, the device can also serve as a central hub for the Smart Home, enabling users to connect seamlessly to peripheral devices and control them through one centralized mobile app,” ADT said in a prepared statement.
LG Electronics is a $56-billion consumer electronics company.
ADT said its integration with Nest, which will be available this summer, is an “example of ADT's continued desire to open up its ecosystem, paving the way for future opportunities.”
ADT also announced that its Pulse platform is now on a new “open standards-based framework for the secure connected world” as the result of technologies developed by ADT and a new API.
ADT said it will continue to work with partners such as Ford Sync, Intel Security, iControl Networks, Life360, IF (formerly IFTTT) and Nest.
This summer ADT plans to release a new mobile app for the Pulse platform.
