LAS VEGAS—DTT Surveillance, an integrator and manufacturer based here, announced it completed one million smart audits at the end of the year.
The integrator, which specializes in video surveillance solutions to the hospitality and specialty retail industries, developed its smart audit reports in 2008. DTT's EVP of Loss Prevention, Donald Boyle, who came up with the reports, said they're one of the company's most utilized services and they “have enabled thousands of hospitality and retail customers to significantly improve ROI and overall operational efficiencies.”
The reports use a combination of POS, video, and audio data, to provide a “thorough, unbiased evaluation of operational areas such as transactional integrity, safety, security, customer service, productivity, and more.”
DTT's in-house loss prevention professionals currently conduct almost 22,000 audits per month in more than 8,000 active locations.
“We love SmartAudits for monitoring both positive and negative events,” says Burger King operator, Kevin Newell in a statement. “Employees really tightened up once they realized that management is actively monitoring their behavior through audits on a regular basis. The monthly reports provide an extra set of eyes and ears and pull very useful information from assorted POS transactions. We've been able to investigate and terminate several employees who committed transactional fraud, which recovered a substantial amount of cash.”
Boyle said the tool is the proactive “backbone of DTT's suite of services.”
Boyle said his team does not “simply watching live footage,[rather] my team regularly analyzes random timeframes at each store to target any suspicious transactions and also highlight policy violations. We compile these into a simple, easy-to-read format with images linking to video, so operators can easily understand exactly what's going on in only a few minutes.”
DTT was founded in 1999 by Sam Naficy. DTT has equipped, serviced and supported more than 35,000 clients. Its customers include McDonald's, SUBWAY, Dairy Queen, Burger King, Dunkin Brands, Taco Bell, KFC, Auntie Anne's, and Potbelly Sandwich Works.
