Bryan Wagner is the new vice president of New York City-based SecureWatch24. He'll be responsible for analyzing potential vertical markets, developing sales strategies and executing business development tactics to attain sales goals. Before joining SW24, he worked for Securitas for 13 years, most recently as a senior business development manager. He also received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, where he served in the military police, protecting classified installations. Security Systems News caught up with Bryan in April and asked him five questions:
Where did you grow up?
In New Jersey, in a town called Chatham. I joined the military shortly after high school and was stationed in Hawaii. I got out and moved to upstate New York, and I now live in New Jersey, near where I grew up.
What do you like about working in New York City?
I love the fast pace. Working in this type of environment, when you go on vacation, you just appreciate it a little bit more. I love that there's no day that's ever the same and you meet some of the most interesting, diverse people on the planet. I don't know if I could live in New York City, to be honest, but working in it—it's like the center of the universe. It's where everything happens.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I'm a big golfer. I also have two beautiful daughters, ages 12 and 9, so I'm actively involved in coaching their sports, specifically softball. And I love just working around my house.
What's your favorite golf course?
Sunset Valley in Pequannock, N.J. The course is always in great shape and I play it on Sunday mornings. Tee off at 7 a.m., walk nine holes, sometimes with friends and sometimes just by myself.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
Definitely a dog person. I have two awesome Labs. I have a cat as well, but the dogs have a special place inside my heart. One is yellow, Emma, and one is chocolate, Hershey. He's a Hurricane Katrina rescue dog.
