Five Questions: Lynde Bailey

Five Questions: Lynde Bailey

Lynde Bailey is the new Midwest regional sales manager for SDI Specialized Fire Products, a New Jersey-based fire company that specializes in fire and security testing solutions. She has more than 10 years experience in the fire alarm industry. She most recently worked with System Sensor as Northwest regional sales manager and formerly worked for engineered systems designers. In her new position, she is charged with spearheading expansion and growth in the market and she also will play a key role in developing innovative industry initiatives and offerings from SDI. Security Systems News caught up with Lynde in May and asked her five questions:

You're based in Idaho. Is that the state where you grew up?
Pretty much. I have lived in Idaho since 1984.

Idaho is famous for its potatoes. How do you feel about potatoes?
You know, I've lived in Idaho a long time and I've never seen a potato patch. Ever. I enjoy potatoes but it's not the main staple in my diet.

What do you like about the state of Idaho?
It's beautiful. Idaho is one of those areas where it's a great place to raise your family and there's pretty much everything you would ever want. Whether you're an outdoorsman or a socialite, there is something for everyone to enjoy, but on a much smaller scale.

Can you tell us about some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love the arts and food. We have a great Shakespeare festival every year and fishing is one of my favorite summer pastimes. Otherwise, I like to relax and enjoy some family time with my two teenage daughters or the company of friends and family with a backyard barbeque.

What's your favorite movie?
I have two favorites. One is “Big Fish,” [a 2003 Tim Burton film starring Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney and Billy Crudup]. The other is “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”—[a 2000 Joel and Ethan Coen movie starring George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson]. Both movies incorporate paradoxes and stimulate self-reflection.
