MONTREAL—Genetec, a provider of IP security solutions, has announced the availability of Stratocast, a video surveillance system powered by Microsoft's Windows Azure cloud-computing platform.
After a five-month beta program at more than 40 customer test sites, including several small businesses and security systems integrators, the solution is now available in North America, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The solution features packages starting at less than $10 a month per camera. Advanced functionalities include HD video capture, intelligent video management that sends automatic alerts, and a cloud federation feature, which allows cameras either on-site or off-site to be incorporated into the existing on-premise platform.
Designed for small and mid-sized businesses, Stratocast eliminates the costs and complexities of installing and managing on-site hardware and storage, Genetec said in a prepared statement. The solution also affords customers an easier way to deploy video surveillance in satellite or remote locations.
