Genetec predicts 2023 physical security industry trends

MONTREAL – Security company Genetec has shared its predictions for the physical security industry for the upcoming year of 2023.
The Genetec 2022 State of Physical Security Report found that half of respondents said their physical security team experienced challenges relating to human resources in 2022. Genetec says that in 2023 security leaders are re-evaluating their available technology to see if they can streamline tasks and processes to improve efficiency. They cite video surveillance, automatic license plate recognition, access control, and communications technology as being among the many useful tools to help make security operator’s jobs easier.
There’s also a drive to modernize as the report shows 67% of organizations are planning to invest in modernizing their access control systems. Cybersecurity also remains a major focus for IT security professionals as 36% have plans to invest in cyber tools to improve their physical security posture. The intertwining of physical and cybersecurity as a concept was listed as one of the major notable trends going forward into 2023.
These predictions come courtesy of insights provided by over 3700 security leaders worldwide, and Genetec’s insight as a leading provider of video management, and access control systems.
