NFPA names NEC Challenge winner

QUINCY, Mass.—Derek Vigstol, of Princeton, Minn., won the title of NEC Challenge Champion in a nation-wide challenge to celebrate the National Fire Protection Association's release of the 53rd National Electrical Code.
Vigstol won $5,000, NFPA announced Jan. 30. The code outlines a standard for safe electrical installation and inspection.
“Electrical safety is a serious topic,” Lorraine Carli, NFPA's vice president of outreach and advocacy, said in a prepared statement. “The NEC Challenge introduced some fun and competitiveness to draw attention to many important elements of the code.”
The NEC Challenge, which is an interactive game, traveled to electrical trade shows across the country, giving electrical experts and professionals an opportunity to put their knowledge to the test, according to a news release. Alongside runners-up Joe Brinley and Robert Watkins, Jr., Vigstol competed in a three-rounds of game play.
