LANCASTER, Pa.—Select Security, a super regional security company based here, recently completed the purchase of Owensboro, Ky.-based Level 5 Systems, Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based Sea Dog Security, and Charlotte, N.C.-based Guardian Systems, adding three new branch offices, and expanding into the North and South Carolina markets. The three deals add approximately 2,000 new accounts for Select Security.
“We have always felt that with the infrastructure that we have invested in and built both in technology and people over the past couple of years, we were positioned to aggressively grow the business through acquisition and even faster organic growth,” Steve Firestone, Select Security president told Security Systems News. “When we did the credit facility deal with Goldman Sachs, it kind of led us to the point of where several of the conversations that we were having that would result in expanding our trade area outside the states where we had previously done business in, we were now able to bring those conversations to closure.”
The addition of Owensboro marks Select's third in the state of Kentucky and its entry into the Carolinas marks an “entirely new phase in our acquisition plans, and is just the start of our plans there,” said Firestone.
Roger Parks, former owner of Sea Dog Security, is joining Select as the executive director of business development and regional sales manager. “As someone who has experienced the acquisition process and integration of security systems companies as both a buyer and seller, I was wholly impressed with the way things are handled at Select Security,” Parks said in a prepared statement.
Supporting the expansion of Select Security's new Charlotte branch will be Steve Schude, who has been named the area sales manager for the North and South Carolina region. Schude brings years of sales management experience, and expertise in growing market share.
In addition to the hires, Firestone said that Select looks to remain active on the acquisition front.
“We are having conversations and they are in the states we currently now do business in as well as some other states that would be the next natural progression of our desire to expand into other contiguous states,” he said.
Select Security, founded in 2003 by founder and owner Pat Egan, has multiple local offices serving more than 25,000 customers across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Select Security offers integrated security and fire alarms, video surveillance, access control, along with home security, life safety, and convenient home automation systems.
