Verint VMS deployed on Minneapolis public transport

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., and MELVILLE, N.Y.—The Metro Transit in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., is standardizing parts of its transportation platform with Verint's Nextiva VMS, according to a company statement.

Verint's VMS technology will be used for the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit Project, which will allow for enhanced investigation capabilities for law enforcement and increased response times, the statement noted.

Metro Transit, one of the largest public transit systems in the country, provides more than 80 million passenger trips annually throughout the region. The Central Corridor Light Rail Transit Project was launched in 2010, and part of the initiative involves adding 31 new light rail transit vehicles and 18 new stations.

The Metro Transit Police Department opted to standardize its transportation and security technology in conjunction with the project, using Verint's Nextiva VMS software for the task. Phasing in implementation, the organization began its rollout in Sept. 2012.

Nextiva VMS software offers networked video viewing and investigation management capabilities designed to help security staff rapidly detect, act upon and investigate security breaches, according to the statement.
