PROVO, Utah—Vivint Solar, a provider of solar energy solutions, introduced Dan Rapp as the company's inaugural chief technology officer, according to a company statement. Until it was purchased by Blackrock at the end of 2012, Vivint Solar was a division of Vivint. The two companies are now separate.
In the position, Rapp will oversee Vivint Solar's technology strategy and software development, including the development and implementation of advanced data reporting and an enhanced customer interface, the statement said.
“Dan brings a tremendous amount of experience to Vivint Solar,” said Tanguy Serra, president, Vivint Solar, in the statement. “As CTO, Dan will play a pivotal role in creating a technological infrastructure that will significantly scale the business as Vivint Solar continues its nationwide expansion.”
Rapp was previously vice president of research, user experience and web development at FamilySearch, a genealogy organization. Prior to that, he spent three years as an engineer at Whizbang! Labs, and before that, split 12 years between Novell and IBM in various management and technical leadership roles.
