Shawn Crocker, 26
Service and inspections manager, Wayne Alarm Systems
Lynn, Mass.
Shawn Crocker is working on getting Wayne Alarm to go paperless.
“I'm trying to implement all the latest and greatest technologies in the field into our industry here at Wayne Alarm,” Crocker said. “I like field service units which are all on the iPad—no more paper, I hate paper.”
“I think the security industry is rapidly evolving. We always change with the new technologies that are coming,” said Crocker. “My role at Wayne Alarm is to make sure we're always moving in the right direction, always moving forward, staying up to speed with everything.”
Video verification technologies appeal to Crocker. “It's definitely good for the industry—for the central station to be able to give the police the right information,” he said,
Crocker started out in a stock room, then became a sales technician and moved to Wayne Alarm about three years ago.
An active and current online presence is important for attracting young professionals into the industry, he said. “That's the way of the future. We're a big word-of-mouth company, but everybody nowadays is leaning toward getting reviews online. So, we have to make sure our following online is just as big as our word-of-mouth following.”
“Five or six of my family members have been in the industry for years. So, that's how I got into it,” Crocker said.
Wayne Alarm Systems is a full service security provider that also does wholesale monitoring. With 91 employees, Wayne focuses on the greater Boston area and Nantucket.
