Judge dismisses patent infringement lawsuit against Mobotix

NEW YORK—A patent infringement lawsuit against Mobotix Corp. has been dismissed.
Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Biery dismissed the suit, filed by San Antonio, Texas-based e-Watch Inc., according to Mobotix, a provider of network-based surveillance systems.
The judgment was entered after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office had determined, upon the request of Mobotix, that one of four patents in the patent infringement lawsuit is not patentable, according to a prepared statement from Mobotix.

Patent office grants Mobotix request for review

NEW YORK—The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Mobotix's request for a review of four e-Watch patents, Mobotix announced Dec. 18.
A federal court agreed to Mobotix's motion to stay litigation pending a patent review; e-Watch filed a patent-infringement case against Mobotix in San Antonio Federal Court, according to the release.

Mobotix applies for patent cancellation in wake of suit

NEW YORK—Embroiled in a patent lawsuit with e-Watch, Mobotix Corp. has successfully lobbied for suspension of the suit pending an examination of the validity of the patents involved, Mobotix announced Oct. 29.
The company has also applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office seeking cancellation of all existing patents in the suit, being heard in federal court in San Antonio, according to the news release.
