Linear PERS transmitters recalled

CARLSBAD, Calif.—Linear is recalling some PERS transmitters after a report that one transmitter failed to operate, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this week.
The transmitters' battery clips can corrode, leaving the device inoperable without warning, according to a news release. No injuries have been reported.
Models DXS-LRC, DXS-LRC-LA, DXS-LRP and DXS-LRW, manufactured between June and July 2013, with the date codes 1306, 1307 and 1329 are included in the recall.

ATLANTA—Telguard's HomeControl for Go!Control panels is now available to dealers, Telguard and 2GIG announced Nov. 7. The automation system allows users to remotely arm and disarm security systems, and includes Z-Wave and integrated video surveillance.
HomeControl can be connected to all of the Go!Control panel's events, such as motion detectors or door sensors, according to the release.

Linear execs: 2GIG still innovating

2GIG is still innovating. That's the message I got yesterday from a briefing with Bruce Ehlers, SVP engineering for Linear, and Mike O'Neal, Linear president. It's also working with some providers it did not work with previously. The 2GIG panel has historically worked with alarm.com software. Ehlers and O'Neal emphasized that it still works with alarm.com, but it now also will work with iControl, Telular and Uplink.

Nortek to buy 2GIG for $135m

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Nortek, parent company of Linear, announced this morning that it will acquire 2GIG Technologies for $135 million.
2GIG, known for its Go!Control system, is a manufacturer of security and home automation equipment. The company was launched in 2009 by two former Honeywell employees.
Nortek's Linear business helped develop the 2GIG Go!Control product. Linear was in the news a couple of weeks ago when it purchased a line of Z-Wave-enabled products.
