Access control provider Matrix Systems, which in May appointed Holly Tsourides as its new CEO, opened a new sales and marketing office north of Boston in the city of Lowell, Mass. It will serve at the company base for marketing and other strategic initiatives to drive sales, new technology partnerships and customized service options. Matrix has hired two employees to staff the Lowell office, and plans to hire more.

ESSEX, Mass.—A scam that plagued Arizona earlier in 2013 has crept east, according to an article from the Gloucester Times, a newspaper based in Gloucester, Mass.
At least one resident in Essex, Mass., received an unsolicited “robocall” claiming the local police department was encouraging residents to buy home security systems, and recommending an Arizona company to do the installation work, the article noted.

Faulty fire alarm prompts investigation

HOLLISTON, Mass.—At a restaurant in this suburb west of Boston, a fire alarm was pulled but did not trigger a response from the local fire department, according to an article from The MetroWest Daily News, a newspaper based in Framingham, Mass.

A new systems integration company has opened its doors in Burlington, Mass. A2 Systems, founded by security industry veterans Pat Connors and Matt Leonard, opened its doors after the first of the year and just completed its first job for an energy company. It's now delving into two more jobs—one in the pharmaceutical vertical and one in retail.
